(Rare photoes of Balmik Ramayan translated from Sanskrit to Persian by Sumer Chand…1715 A.D.  Reference: Raza Library, Rampur, Uttar Pradesh)

Bachan sunat sab banar jah tah chale turant/

Tab Sugreev bolaye Angad Nal Hanumant//

Hearing Sugreev’s command, the monkeys dispersed to various directions to search for Sitaji.

Then Sugreev called his most important soldiers like Angad, Nal, Hanuman (Neel, Jambavan et al) to his side.

Sunahu Neel Angad Hanumana/Jambavat matidheer sujana//

Sakal subhat mili dacchin jaahu/ Sita sudhi puchehu sab kaahu//

Hey brave and valorous Neel, Angad, Hanuman, Jambavan!

All of you extraordinary warriors should move south and ask everybody about Sitaji.

Man kram bachan so jatan bicharehu/ Ramchandra kar kaaju samvarehu//

Bhanu peedi seyia ur aagi/ Swamihi sabr bhav chal tyagi//

Your minds, words and deeds shall focus on getting information about Sitaji. Ensure that the task given to us by Sri Ramji gets done successfully.

We turn out backs to the sun and we always face the fire. The task of the Lord deserves total dedication with no hypocrisy in one’s self (mind, words or deeds!)

Taji maya seyia parloka/ Mitahim sakal bhavsambhav soka//

Deh dhare kar yeh bhal bhai/ Bhajia Ram sab kam bihai//

Rejecting the desires created by Maya, one should try to serve the divine Lord. That shall erase the interminable fears associated with the birth and death cycles.

The very purpose of obtaining a mortal body is to leave aside all desires and to meditate on the Lord!

Soyi gunagya soyi badbhaagi/ Jo Raghbeer charan anuraagi//

Aayasu maagi charan siru naayi/Chale harashi sumirat Raghuraayi//

The one filled with good qualities and the one is most fortunate is that person who is Lord Ram’s devotee (who holds onto His feet)

After bowing their heads and getting the command, all of them left, reflecting on Lord Ram’s grace.

Pachem pavan tanay siru naava/ Jaani kaaj prabhu nikat bolava//

Parsa sees saroruh paani/ Karmudrika deenhi jan jaani//

Hanuman was last in the line. The Lord called him to his side.

He touched Hanuman’s head with his blessed hand. He removed the ring from his finger and gave it to Hanuman knowing him to be a great devotee.

Bahu prakar seetahi samuchayehu/ Kahi bal birah begi tumh aayehu//

Hanumat janm subhal kari maana/ Chaleyu hridayam dhari kripanidhaana//

‘Explain to Sita about my love for her (how much I miss her) and about my strength (I shall retrieve her) and return soon.

Hanumanji felt that his birth was fulfilled. Carrying the Lord of Compassion in his heart, he left the place.

Jadhapi prabhu jaanat sab baata/ Rajneeti rakhat surtraata//

Though the Lord of all Devas is omniscient, he is protecting the Rajneeti aka The Art of Ruling.

(He knows everything yet in his human avatar, he is a just king following the lawful dictates of ruling and statecraft.)

Chale sakal ban khojat sarita sar giri khoh/

Ram kaaj layleen man bisra tan kar choh//

The monkeys searched high and wide in the forests, rivers, lakes, mountains and caves.

Their minds are utterely immersed in the divine task assigned by Lord Ram. They have forgotten even their bodily attachment.( Even the thirst and hunger of their bodies do not deter them for a moment.)

Katahu hoyi nisichar saim bheta/ Pran lehim eke k chapeta//

Bahu prakar giri kanan herahim/ Kovu muni milayi taahi sab gherahim//

Wherever they encountered a rakshasa, they took his life in one blow.

They started searching the forests and mountains relentlessly. If they meet a wandering sage, they immediately surround him to enquire about Sitaji’s whereabouts.

Laagi trisha atisay akulane/ Milayi na jal ghan gahan bhulane//

Man Hanuman keenh anumana/ Maran chahat sab binu jal pana//

All were thirsty and consequently were under stress. They could not find water anywhere.

In the forests they were almost lost. Hanumanji understood that they would all die without drinking water.

Chadi giri sikhar chahu dekha/ Bhoomi bibar ek kautuk pekha//

Chakrabaak bak hans udaahim/ Bahutak khag prabisahim tehi maahim//

He leapt up the mountain peak and looked around. Then he saw a curious sight.

Many birds were entering an opening into the earth, and chakravak, swans, cranes etc were flying out through the entrance.

Giri te uteri pavansuta aava/ Sab kahu lai soyi bibar dekhava//

Aagem kai Hanumantahi leenha/ Paide bibar bilambu na keenha//

Hanuman descended and took all the monkeys to the great opening.

There without delay, he entered the cave, leading from the front.

Deekh jaayi upban bar sar bigasith bahu kanj/

Mandir ek ruchir tah baidi naari tap punj//

When they went inside, they saw a beautiful garden and lake resplendent with lotuses. There was a temple nearby and a woman deep in meditation was found seated there.

Trin Saman Trailokahi Ganahim(46): They Consider The Three Worlds As Insignificant

The Spy’s Story (Sundar Kanda Continued)

Ki bhayi bhent ki phiri gaye shravan sujasu suni mor/

Kahasi na ripu dal tej bal bahut chakit chit chor//

Did you meet them(the mendicants)? Or did they return after hearing about my great fame?

Why don’t you tell me about the strength and prowess of the enemy’s army?Your mind seems to be intimidated!

Nadh kripa kari poochehu jaisem/manahu kaha krodh taji taisem//

Mila jaayi jab anuj tumhara/jatahim Ram tilak tehi sara//

(The messenger said-) Lord, with the same kindness with which you asked me questions, please give up your anger and bestowing patience, listen to me ( trust my words)

When your younger brother went to meet SreeRamji,  He anointed him as the King

Ravan doot hamahi suni kaana/kapinh baandhi deenhe dukh naana//

Shravan nasika kataim laage/Ram sapadh deenhem hum tyaage//

Hearing that I was Ravan’s messenger, the monkeys tied me up and tortured me a lot

But when I took the Name of SreeRamji, they let me go!

Poochihu Nadh Ram katkaayi /badan koti sat barni na jaayi//

Nana baran bhalu Kapi dhari/bikatanan bisaal bhaykari//

Lord, you asked me about SreeRamji’s army, it cannot be described even with one crore faces(tongues)

It is an army of innumerable bears and monkeys of different colours, their faces intimidating, with monstrous bodies and totally fearsome

Jehim pur dahevu hatevu sut tora/sakal kapeenh mah tehi balu dhora//

Amit naam bhat kadin karaala/Amit naag bal bipun bisaala//

The One who burnt the city and killed your son, his strength is so little compared to others!

They are of so many names, such mighty and terrible warriors! They have the strength of multiple elephants and are gigantic in size!

Dwibidh Mayand Neel Nal Angad Gad Bikataasy/

Dadhimukhi,Kehari,Nisad,Sad,Jamavanth balraasy//

Dwividhi, Mayand, Neel, Nal, Angad, Gad, Vikatasya,

Dadhimukhi,Kesari, Nishad, Shad and Jambavan- they are all epitomes of might!

Ye kapi sab Sugreev samaana/inh sam kotinh ganai ko naana//

Ram kripa atulit bal tinhahim/trin samaan trailokahi ganahim//

These monkeys are equivalent to Sugreev in strength, and there are crores like these, who can count them all?

Due to SreeRamji’s blessings, they are unmatched in strength, and they consider the three worlds as mere speck of dust( they consider them insignificant)

As mai suna shravan Daskandhar/padum adarah juudhap bandar//

Nadh katak mah so kapi nahim/jo na tumhi jeetai rann mahim//

Hey Dasagreev! I have heard that eighteen ranks comprise  just of Generals of the monkey warriors!

Hey Lord! There is not a single monkey in there who cannot defeat your army in battle!( They will defeat yours in battle)

Param krodh meejahim sab hhad had/aayasu pai na dehim Raghunadha//

Soshahim sindhu sahit cchash byaala/poorahim na ta bhari kudhar bisaala//

The warriors are all flexing their muscles and hands, but SreeRamji has not given them the go ahead as yet

‘We will dry the ocean up along with its fishes and snakes, else we will part it  by filling it with huge mountains-

Mardi gardi milavahim Dasseesa/aiseyi bachan kahahim sab keesa//

Garjahim tarjahim sahaj asanka/manahu grasan chahat hahim Lanka//

And we will crush Ravan and mix him with the dust’, that is what all the monkeys are speaking,

They are fearless by nature, they are roaring and stamping their feet, as if they want to  crush Lanka

Sahaj soor kapi bhalu sab puni sir par Prabhu Ram/

Ravan kal koti kahu jeeti sakahim sangraam//

All the monkey warriors are  naturally valorous , besides at their head ( as their leader) they have SreeRamji

Hey Ravan! In a war, they can defeat a crore of DeathGods( Kal)!

Jadapi Sakha Tav Iccha Nahim(42): Although, My Friend, You Have No Desire

SreeRamji and Vibheeshan ( Sundar Kanda continued)

Sagun upasak parhit nirat neeti drid nem/

Te nar praan saman jinh kem dwij pad prem//

Those who are devotees of  the Lord ( sakar roopi) full of good qualities, who  constantly work for the welfare of others, firm in FairPlay and justice

Who have love for good souls, those people are dear to me like lifebreath

Sunu Lankes sakal gun torem/tatem tumh atisay priy morem//

Ram bachan suni banar joodha/sakal kahahim Jai kripa baroodha//

Hey Lord of Lanka! Listen, you have all the above attributes in you, and hence you are very dear to me

Hearing SreeRamji’s words the monkey army chanted joyously- May the Lord of Compassion be Victorious

Sunat Bibheeshanu Prabhu ke baani/nahim aghath shravanamrit jaani//

Pad ambuj gahi barahim baara/hridayam samat na premu apaara//

Hearing the Lord’s words that showered like nectar in his ears, Vibheeshan was overwhelmed,

He fell at the lotus feet of the Lord again and again, his heart was  bubbling over with great love

Sunahu Dev charachar swami/pranatpal ur andarjaamy//

Ur kacchu pradham baasana rahi/Prabhu pad preethi sarit so bahi//

(Vibheeshan Ji said) Hey Lord! Master of the Universe!Hey Protector of the refugees! The omniscient one who knows what transpires within everyone’s hearts!

I had some desires within me which have flown away in the river of Your kindness

Ab kripal nij bhagaty paavani/dehu sada siv mann bhaavani//

Evamastu kahi Prabhu randheera/magaa turat sindhu kar neera//

Now, My Lord! Please grant me unflinching devotion to You, which is so beloved to Lord Shiv’s heart

Evamastu-Let it be so, said SreeRamji and asked for the water from the ocean

Jadapi sakha tav iccha nahim/mor darasu amogh jag mahim//

As kahi Ram tilak tehi saara/suman brishti nabh bhayi apaara//

(The Lord said-) Although my friend, you have no wish for it,  getting to see me in this world, will not go fruitless

Saying that, SreeRamji did Rajtilak ( did the ceremony of anointing Vibheeshan as King), flowers were showered from the skies in great numbers

Ravan krodh anahl nij swas sameer prachand/

Jarat Bibheeshanu rakhevu deenhevu raju akhand//

Vibheeshan, whose breath( spoken words) had the effect of  a wild wind that made the fire of Ravan’s fury burn madly,

Was saved by SreeRamji, who gifted him an undivided kingdom(Lanka)

Har Ur Sar Saroj Pad Jeyi (37):The Lotus Feet Which Reigns In The Lake of Lord Shiv’s Heart

Vibheeshan journeys to meet SreeRamchandraji( Sundar Kanda Continued)

Dekhikhavum jayi charan jaljaata/ arun mridul sevak sukhdaata//

Je pad parasy tari rishinaary/Dandak kanan paavankaary//

(He thought ) I will soon be able to see the beautiful and rosy tinted lotus feet of SreeRamji,  the sight of which, gives immense happiness to His Devotees

The touch of which had given Ahalya her life back and which had purified the Dandak forests (Dandakaranya)

(Note: Ahalya was the devout wife of Sage Gautama who was tricked by Indra. Gautama cursed her to become a stone. He gave her the relief that the  divine touch of SreeRamji’s  feet in Treta Yuga would reclaim her life back. In PanchKanya Shloka, Ahalya’s name appears first.Ahalya, Sita, Tara, Mandodari and Draupadi  are the blessed five women who epitomise all qualities of head and heart)

Je pad Janaksutam ur laye/kapat kurang sang dhar dhaye//

Har ur sar saroj pad jeyi/ahobhagya mai dekhihau teyi//

The Divine feet which Janakiji carries in her heart, the same feet which raced on the ground trying to catch the False deer ( Asur Mareech in his trickster  golden deer form)

The same Lotus feet which reigns supreme in the lake of Lord Shiva’s own heart, it is my supreme fortune that I shall be seeing them today

Jinh payanh ke padukaninh Bharatu rahe mann laye/

Te pad aaju bilokihavum inh nayananhi ab jaye//

The padukas( footwear) of SreeRamji – on which Bharatji is meditating on-those graced the Divine feet-

Ah!And today, I am going to see those blessed feet with my own eyes!

Ehi bidhi karat saprem bichara/aayavu sapadi sindhu ehim para//

Kapinh Bibheeshanu aavat dekha/jaana kovu ripu doot bisesha//

In this way, thinking loving thoughts, Vibheeshan crossed over to the other side of the ocean

When the monkey army saw him coming, they thought that a special messenger of the Rakshasas had arrived

Taahim rakhy kapees pahim aye/samachar sab tahi sunayi//

Kah Sugreev sunahu Raghurai/aava milan Dasanan bhai//

Stopping Vibheeshan at the sentry post itself, they went to Sugreev and informed him of the news

Sugreev went to SreeRamji and said, Listen Lord! Ravan’s brother has come to meet You

Sumati Kumati Sab Kem Ur Rahahim(35): Both the good and bad intelligence dwell within everyone

Ravan is infuriated with Vibheeshan (Sundar Kanda Continued)

Ripu utkarash kahat sad dove/doori na karahu iham hayi kovu//

Malyavant grih gayavu bahori/ kahayi Bibheeshanu puni kar jori//

(Ravan shouted)-These two fools are spouting the praises of my enemy! Who is there? Get them away from here!

Then Malyavant returned to his home and Vibheeshanji again joined his palms together and said-

Sumati kumati sab kem ur rahahim/Nadh puran nigam as kahahim//

Jaham sumati tah sampathi nana/jaham kumati tah bipati nidana//

Hey Lord! The Puranas and Vedas say that Subuddhi( discerning or good  intelligence) and Kubuddhi( wicked intelligence) dwell in everyone’s heart( Wisdom and Folly both dwell within everyone)

Where good intelligence dwells, there multiple ways of  joy stays, where wicked intelligence rules, there all results turn disappointing and unhappy

Tav ur kumati basi bipareeta/hith anahith manahu ripu preeta//

Kaalrathy nisichar kul Keri/tehi Seeta par preethy dhaneri//

In your heart the wrong intelligence has started dwelling, hence you are looking at what’s good as bad, and  seeing the foe as friend

Seeta, who is akin to KaalRathri( Night of worst nightmares)  for the Rakshasa clan, you are so enamoured by her

Doha: Tat charan gahi magavu rakhahu mor dular/

Seeta dehu Ram kahu ahit na hoyi tumhar//

Hey Brother! I am falling at your feet and begging you-please be indulgent with me( like you indulge a child’s plea), please return Seetaji to SreeRamji, so that nothing untoward happens to you

Buddh puran shruthi sammat baani/kahi Bibheeshan neethi bakhaani//

Sunat Dasanan uda risaayi/khal tohi nikat mrityu ab aayi//

Vibheeshan spoke appealingly  in words acceptable to scholars, based on Puranas and Vedas,  full of justice

But on hearing his words, Ravan was infuriated and jumped up, and said- You Wicked One! Now Death is very close to you( I will kill you now)

Jiasi sada sad mor jiaava/ripu kar pacch moodh tohi bhaava//

Kahasi na khal as ko jag mahim/bhuj bal jaahi jita mai nahim//

You Fool! You exist because I am there( You eat my food) but You Idiot! You like adoring the enemy better than me!

You Evil One!Tell me, is there anyone in this world that I have not defeated using my strong arms?

Mati Anuroop Kahavu Hith Taata(33): Let Me Speak For Your Good, In Accordance With My Perspective, Brother!

Vibheeshan advises Ravan (Sundar Kanda Continued)

Baidevu sabham khabari asi paayi/sindhu paar sena sab aayi//

Buchesi sachiv uchit mat kahahu/ te sab hase masht kari rahahu//

As Ravan seated himself in his court, he got to know that the enemy’s army has assembled on the opposite shore of the ocean

He asked his ministers, give me proper advice( what should I do now), the ministers laughed and said, you need not do anything( what is the big deal in this anyway)

Jeetehu surasur tab shram nahim/ nar baanar kehi lekhe mahim//

You have vanquished all  Devas and Rakshasas, you never had to put in any effort, then why bother about humans and monkeys( do they count at all?)

Sachiv Baid Gur teeni jaum bolahim bhay aas

Raj Dharm Tan teeni kar hoyi begihim naas//

When the Minister, Physician and Teacher, out of fear of unpleasantness or greed for prospects, stop telling the truth( the real solution) and speak to please( sycophantically), then the country, body and Dharma- all three  respectively, would be destroyed fast enough

Soyi Ravan kahu bani sahayi/Astuti karhim sunayi sunayi//

Avasar jaani Bibheeshanu aava/ bhrata charan seesu tehim naava//

For Ravan too this coincidence had occured( he was not getting wise counsel), his ministers were praising him on the face

At this time, being sensitive about the opportunity given, Vibheeshan arrived, he bowed his head at his brother’s feet

Puni siru nayi baid nij aasan/bola bachan payi anusaasan//

Jau kripal poochihu mohi baata/mati anuroop kahavu hit taata//

He bowed and sat down in his seat, and then seeking permission he said-

Hey Brother! Since you are asking for my opinion, let me speak according to my  perspective, for your good

Jo aapan chahai kalyana/sujasu sumati subh sukh gati nana//

So parnaari lillar gosayi/tajavu chaudhi ke chand Ki nayi//

The men who desire prosperity, beautiful fame, intelligence filled discretion, progress and all forms of abundance, they should-

My Lord! they should avoid looking at the face of another man’s woman in the way they turn their face away from the moon of the Chaturthi day

( Note: It is said that Ganesha cursed the moon  once and whoever looks at it that specific night  of Chaturthi-will be embroiled in scandalous lies)

Sarparaj So Likat Abichal Pavani(31): As If The Serpent King Was Writing The Eternal And Holy Story

The Lord’s army marches to Lanka( SundarKanda Continued)

Joyi joyi sagun Janakihi hoyi/asagun bhayavu Ravanahi soyi//

Chala kataku ko barnaim para/garjahim banar bhalu apara//

Whatever signs became auspicious for Sitaji became a prophesy of misfortune for Ravan

The army marched, who can put words to that sight, innumerable monkeys and bears were roaring majestically

Nakh ayudh giri padpadhary/chale gagan mahi icchachary//

Keharinath bhalu kapi karhim/dagmagahim diggaj chikkarahim//

The monkeys and bears, whose weapons were their claws and nails, some were travelling by air and some on earth, carrying trees and hills aloft

They were roaring like lions, and the elephants from various directions were trumpeting in  utter panic

Chikkarahim diggaj tol mahi giri lol sagar kharbhare/

Man harsh sabh gandarbh sur muni nag kinnar dukh tare//

Katkatahim markat bikat bhat bahu koti kotinh dhaavahim/

Jaya Ram prabal pratap Kosalnath gun gan gaavahim//

Elephants from all directions started trumpeting in panic, the earth started to vibrate, the mountains were petrified, the oceans rose in huge waves of distress

Gandarv, Devta, Muni, Nag, Kinnar- all were delighted that our agony will soon end (Ravan will be killed)

Crores of monkeys were thumping chests, and were running fastly

They were singing praises of SreeRamji- ‘May the Lord of Kosala, strong and majestic be ever victorious!’

Sahi sak na bhar udar ahipathy bar barahim mohayi/

Gah dasan puni puni kamad prisht kador so kimi sohayi//

Raghubeer ruchir prayan prasthithi jaani param suhavani/

Janu kamad kharpar Sarparaj so likhat abichal paavani//

Even the great and supreme Seshnagji could not bear the impact of the aggressive army, he is distressed often too

He bites tight  the rear of the Divine Turtle back often to keep his balance

The sight of the Naga King( biting again and again and drawing new lines on the rear of the turtle shell) is  so striking-as if he has recognised the wondrous journey of SReeRaghunathji and

The King of Serpents is writing with his fangs, the eternal and  holy story of SreeRamji’s march to victory, on the back of the turtle

Ehi bidhi jaayi kripanidhi utare sagar teer/

Jah tah laage khan bhal bhalu bipul kapi beer//

In this manner, Kripanidhi( The Seating Place of Compassion, The Treasury of Compassion) SreeRamChandraji reached the shores of the ocean

The vast number of valiant monkey and bear warriors started eating fruits therein

Bhaye Pacchujut Manahu Girinda (30): As If They Had Become Mountains With Wings

SreeRamji readies for war ( SundarKanda Continued)

Suni Prabhu bachan kahahim kapibrinda/jai jai jai kripal sukhkanda//

Tab Raghupathy kapipatihi bolava/kaha chalaim kar karahu banava//

Hearing SreeRamji’s words, the monkeys started chanting – May the Giver of Joy, Epitome of Compassion be ever victorious!SreeRamji Ki  Jai ho!

Then SreeRaghunathji called the King of monkeys Sugreev to his side, and asked him to get ready for travel( for war with Lanka)

Ab bilamb kehi kaaran keeje/ turat kapinh kahu aayasu deeje//

Kautuk dekhi suman bahu barashy/nabh tem bhavan chale sur harashy//

Now why delay at all? Give order to the monkey army immediately

Seeing the Leela (divine play  for killing Ravan), the Gods watching from the skies, showered flowers at the Lord, and joyously went back to their own worlds

Kapipati begi bolaye aaye joodhap joodh/

Nana baran atul bal banar bhaloo baroodh//

Sugreev, King of the Monkeys, send out his word , many warrior leaders came with their armies

The mass of  soldiers: monkeys and bears, were of different colours, and they were of incomparable strength

Prabhu pad pankaj navahim seesa/Garajahim bhaloo mahabal keesa//

Dekhi Ram sakal kapi sena/chitai kripa kari rajeev naina//

They bowed their heads at SreeRamji’s lotus feet, the great bears and monkey warriors were roaring mightily

SreeRamji looked at the whole monkey army, his lotus like eyes filled with kindness slowly moved over the soldiers

Ram kripa bal payi kapinda/ bhaye pacchjut manahu girinda//

Harashy Ram tab keenh payana/ sagun bhaye sundar subh nana//

Being blessed with SreeRamji’s compassion, it was as if the majestic monkey warriors had turned into huge mountains with wings

Then SreeRamji happily blew the conch shell announcing the start of journey, many auspicious signs could be discerned around

Jaasu sakal mangalmay keethy/taasu payan sagun yeh neethy//

Prabhu payan jaana Baidehim/farki baam ang janu kahi dehim//

The One whose fame is replete with all things perfect, it was but in the nature of the divine play that auspicious events took place at his task’s beginning

The news of The Lord’s journey reached Janakiji also, her left eye  tingled incessantly, as if telling her about His impending arrival

Charan Pareu Premakul Trahi Trahi Bhagwant(28):He Fell At The Lord’s Feet Crying In Loving Devotion

Hanumanji returns to SreeRamji (Sundar Kanda Continued)

Nimish nimish Karunanidhi jaahim kalap sam beeti/

Begi chalea Prabhu aania bhuj bal khal dal jeeti//

Hey Lord of Compassion! Every moment transpires like an aeon (kalp) for Janakiji

So, My Lord! Please proceed soon and using the strength of your arms, beat the group of evil Rakshasas and bring back Sitaji

Suni Sita dukh Prabhu sukh ayana/bhari aaye jal Rajiv nayana//

Bachan kayam man mam gati jaahi/sapnehu buchiya bipati ki taahi//

Listening about Sitaji’s pain, the Lord who is Joy Incarnate, His lotus petal eyes filled with tears of distress

(He said) The One who is my refuge in body, mind and words( Janaki), can distressful fate befall her even in dreams?

Kah Hanumant bipati Prabhu soyi/jab tav sumiran bhajan na hoyi//

Ketik baat Prabhu jaatudhan ki/ripuhi jeeti aanibi Janaki//

Hanumanji said, Hey Lord! Distressful fate happens when Your Name is forgotten and goes unpraised-

The Rakshasas matter nothing, You will defeat the enemy and bring back Janakiji

Sunu kapi tohi saman upkari/nahim kovu sur nar muni tanudhari//

Prati upkar karaum ka tora/ sanmukh hoyi na sakat man mora//

(The Lord said-) Hey Hanuman! Listen, there is nobody – human, deva or sage who has been of such help to me like you

How can I ever repay you, why, my mind feels unequal to face your loving goodness

Sun sut tohi urin mai nahim/dekhevu kari bichar man mahim//

Puni puni kapihi chitav sutraata/ lochan neer pulak ati gaata//

Listen Son! I have contemplated deeply about this, I can never repay your debt back ( of this great help you have provided)

The Protector of the Gods was looking at Hanuman again and again, his eyes were full of loving tears and his body was radiating with his affection

Suni Prabhu bachan biloki mukh gaat harash Hanumant/

Charan pareu premakul trahi trahi Bhagwant//

Hearing SreeRamji’s words and seeing his radiant being, Hanumanji went almost berserk with devotion and love

He fell at The Lord’s feet crying out,’My Lord! Please save me, save me!’

Baar baar Prabhu chahayi udaava/prem magn tehi udab na bhaava//

Prabhu kar pankaj kapi kem seesa/sumiri so dasa magn Gaureesa//

The Lord tried to raise Hanumanji , but Hanumanji was so drowned in loving prayers that he was lying at His feet

The beautiful lotus like hand of The Lord was gently stroking Hanumanji’s head, remembering that scene Lord Shiv (who was narrating the story to Parvatiji), Himself felt immersed in Great Love.

Savdhaan man kari puni Sankar/laage kahan katha ati sundar//

Kapi udayi Prabhu hridayam lagaava/kar gahi param nikat baidaava//

Then Shivji calmed his mind and started telling the most beautiful story again-

The Lord raised Hanuman and hugged him close to His heart, and then made him sit very next to Himself.

Naam Paharu Divas Nisi(27): Your Name Stands Guard, Day and Night

Hanumanji speaks about Janakiji( SundarKanda Continued)

Naam paaharu diwas nisi dhyan tumhar kapaat/

Lochan nij pad jantrit jaahim praan kehim baat//

( Hanumanji said)Your Name stands guard by her side day and night, Meditation focussed on You is her shutter

Her eyes are at Your Feet, that is the lock, then in which way can her life breath escape?

Chalat mohi Choodamani deenhi/Raghupathy hridayam laayi soyi leenhi//

Nadh jugal lochan bhari bary/bachan kahe kacchu Janak Kumary//

When I was about to return, she gave me the Choodamani, SreeRamji took it and put it next to his heart,

(Hanumanji said,) Hey Lord! Her both eyes flooding with tears, the Daughter of Janakiji told me a few words-

Anuj samet gahehu Prabhu charna/Deen Bandhu prantarit harna//

Man kram bachan charan anuraagy/kehim aparadh nadh haum tyaagy//

Catch hold of The Lord’s feet and that of my  younger brother(and say) , You are the caretaker of the grieving, (DeenBandhu), who removes the sorrow of those who seek refuge in You

With my mind, words and deeds I am devoted to Your Feet, then due to which crime have You deserted me, My Lord?

Avgun ek mor mai mana/bichurat praan na keenh payana//

Nadh so nayananhi aparadha/nisarat praan karahim hadi baadha//

Yes, one fault of mine I do accept, that my life did not end the moment I left Your side

But Oh Lord! It is the fault of my eyes, which stop forcefully the fleeing of my life

Birah agni tanu tul sameera/swas jarai chan mahim sareera//

Nayan sravahim jalu nij hith laagy/jaraim na paav deh birahaagy//

Being away from you( Virah) is Fire, this body is a cotton wick, and the life breath is the breeze , ( due to the merging of fire and breeze) this body can burn any moment

But these eyes (that yearn for the pleasure of seeing You) in their selfishness, keep shedding water(tears), and thus the Fire of separation from You, fails to burn my body

Sita kai ati bipathi bisaala/binahim kahem bhali Deendayaala//

Sitaji’s plight is extremely pitiable,  Hey Deendayal, (Compassionate One), it is better that I do not put words to it(You will be anguished if I speak)
